Weekly Medals for the 2016 Season
Week One
Team Most Points: Beanbaggers 462.7 pts
Top Scorer: Kershaw 91.2 pts (Running Riot)
Closest Matchup: Monkeys vs. Pitches (Monkeys by 10.7)
Week Two
Team Most Points: Your Mom 423.7
Top Scorer: Velasquez 87.1 (RIOT) Two weeks in a row for Riot
Closest Matchup: Chubbs takes out Heros by only 1.3 points! Ouch!!
Week Three
Team Most Points: Running Riot 549.4 pts. In the top 5 for most points in league history!
Top Scorer: Drew Smyly 93.2 pts (MacGruber)
Closest Matchup: Beanbaggers vs. Chubs (Baggers by 41.5)
Storyline of the week: Two teams over 500 pts. (Riot and HH), but not many close matches as week 3 turned out to be one of those weeks where teams lost with 350 pts. and Chippy's beat up Mom with a grand total of 221 pts. That's how this league goes sometimes! What will Week 4 behold?
Week Four
Team Most Points: Tottenham Chiefs with 443.7.....Riot in a virtual tie with 443
Top Scorer: Clayton Kershaw 92.2 pts (Running Riot)
Closest Matchup: Southsiders edged out Thunder by 16 points
Storyline of the week: Teams are starting to show their muscle, but week 5 tends to be where things begin to get interesting. Can the undefeated teams stay undefeated? Probably, but anything can happen!
Week Five
Team Most Points: MacGruber with 472.2
Top Scorer: Ben Zobrist 85.5 pts (Thunder)
Closest Matchup: Baggers edging out Lefties by 50 points...not many close ones in the end
Story Line of the Week: COMEBACKS of Epic Proportions. Baggers posted 107 on the final day to overtake Lefties and stay Undefeated! Then MacGruber posted 218 points on Sunday (315pts over the weekend) to make up a 140 pt. deficit and also remain undefeated. Legacy owners remember the days when MacGruber and Baggers were bottom feeders...can it last through the end of the year? Week 5 was interesting...Chippy fell for the first time, Sons of Pitches picked up the first of what I have to assume will be many more wins, and HGH remains winless after the epic Heartbreaker to MacGruber. Week 6...STAY TUNED!
Week Six
Team Most Points: Spivey 422.3 pts
Top Scorer: Joe Fernandez 100pts!! (Season high)
Closest Matchup: 40 pts was the closest match this week as Mom took out Chippies for Chippies 2nd loss in a row.
Story Line of the Week: And then there was ONE! Baggers is the only undefeated team left after taking out Chubs. MacGruber fell for the first time as Tottenham Chiefs posted 419 pts to take him down. Pitchers are starting to falter and new players are starting to emerge as top fantasy dogs. Will you be the first one to scoop them up?
Week Seven
Team Most Points: Riot by FAR with 603.7 The standings say Riot is in 2nd place but he is the team to beat right now
Top Scorer: Madison Bumgarner 114.5pts!! (New season high)
Closest Matchup: None were close this week:(
Story Line of the Week: And then there was NONE! Baggers ran into the Mack Truck that is Riot and even his 319 points paled in comparison to Riots 603. We are through division games so get ready to see teams you haven't faced at this point in the season. Chubs continues his rise through the ranks and Your Mom seems to have found comfort again near the bottom. Keep it going Gentleman!
Week Eight
Team Most Points: Beanbaggers with 505.4
Top Scorer: Kershaw (Riot) with 111.5 (3rd time this year Kershaw has taken Riot to the promised land)
Closest Matchup: Thunder over MacGruber by 16 points, 378 - 362
Story Line of the Week: Riot's 6 game winning streak is impressive but it has been outdone by Lefties 7 game LOSING streak. It is not easy to win or lose that many in a row in this league as all good players have bad days and vise versa, but these guys are doing it. Ironically enough they play each other in week nine. My money goes to Lefties!! Matches were closer this week as two were played to within 20 points. We are getting to the mid point of the season and SOPS has yet to make his run, but it'll happen. Watch out for week Nine, go Lefties!
Week Nine
Team Most Points: Hungover Heros with 557.2 pts
Top Scorer: Jose Fernandez with 116 pts for Beanbaggers
Closest Matchup: Riot took out Lefties by 28 pts (441 - 413)
Story Line of the Week: The streaks continue! Lefties has lost 8 straight and Riot has won 7 straight. Can they keep it up....I hope not. Watch out for our commish who is silently putting together a run of his own (5 games) to sit at 6 - 3 for the year. Things tend to even out as the year goes along but maybe this year is different and Riot takes it all the way to the playoffs where anything can happen. Not many trades y'all, if you need help at certain positions start looking for talent as there is a lot on the waiver wire, and a lot more sitting on other manager's benches. Use the Proboards to check if they are owned and then make the deal to improve your team! Week 10 is here....Riot I think your time has come.
Week Ten
Team Most Points: MacGruber with 507.7 pts
Top Scorer: Dan Duffy with only 67.8 pts for SOPS
Closest Matchup: Heros BARELY takes out Riot by 1.2 pts (416.1 - 414.9) WOW
Story Line of the Week: It was a good week for anyone 6 - 3 as they all won their matches. The most awesome match was Heros barely hanging on to beat Riot and end his winning streak at 8. On the opposite side of the spectrum Lefties ended his loosing streak with a win over Mom...who for all intents and purposes seems to be...well..."your mom". There were multiple close games within 30 points which makes week 10 the most exciting of the weeks thus far. The playoffs are beginning to loom on the horizon, who is going to make the right moves to get into the top 6? I'm still waiting for SOPS to make it happen, but time is running out.
Week Eleven
Team Most Points: Tottenham Chief with 551.6 pts
Top Scorer: Scherzer 97 pts (Tottenham)
Closest Matchup: The highest scoring match was also the closest Chief takes out Heros by 39 pts 551 - 512
Story Line of the Week: By far the storyline here is the HUGE grudge math between Heros and Chief. Scherzer came through twice for Chief to give him the edge but what a heart breaker for heros.
Week Twelve
Team Most Points: Chippy's with 466 pts
Top Scorer: Jose Fernandez with 94 (Beanbaggers)
Closest Matchup: Macgruber took our Heros by just 23 pts.
Story Line of the Week: SOPS won! Watch out league here he comes. Bad luck for Heros again as he loses in the closest matchup of the week for the 2nd time in a row. Beanbaggers continues his torrid run through the regular season with another victory over a respectable opponent in WAWA. Playoffs are getting closer and we have multiple teams that can and will make a run at the top six. Things usually change after the all star break so keep an eye on the waiver wire for the late summer call up that will push your team into the playoff hunt.
Week 13
Team Most Points: Beanbaggers with 442
Top Scorer: Daniel Duffy (SOPS) with 90 pts
Closest Matchup: All Stars vs. SOPS All stars by 40 pts
Story Line of the Week: The rich get richer as both Beanbaggers and Riot continue to easily put up 400+ pts. With injuries starting to take out big name players, which manager will make the best of a crappy situation and find the players that will fill in and get wins while the stars heal? Well it isn't going to be MOM...SOPS is starting to look like they won't put it together, and Fenway continues to struggle through the worst year of his career...but it might just be our commish! Watch out all, Heros and Chief are beginning their stretch run. More than half way home...keep up the good work!
Week 14
Team Most Points: Riot with 487 pts
Top Scorer: Madison Bumgarner 115 pts (Niagara Falls Thunder)
Closest Matchup: Monkeys Held off JS All Stars by only 11.4 pts
Story Line of the Week: As we head into the All Star Break we have no movement in our top six as every one of them one their match. Hungover Heros is the bubble boy at the moment as he is putting in his best efforts to take advantage of any slip up from a team not Riot or Beanbaggers (Misnomer this year!) On a darker note it is worthwhile mentioning Fenway Faithful has increased his loosing streak to 9. It isn't easy to make that happen, but he did....can he make it 10 against SOPS this week?
Remember that we have a long math this week that goes through July 24 and you get 12 Pitcher starts!
Week 15
Team Most Points: Heros with a record 737 pts!
Top Scorer: Justin Turner (SOPS) with a record for an offensive player...98 pts
Closest Matchup: Riot beat HGH by a tight margin of....62 pts
Story Line of the Week: We had an extra three days for this matchup and Hungover Heros took full advantage of it with what I believe is a record for any matchup in the history of this league. His 737 points easily took out Spivey but ironically Spiveys 432 pts would have beaten the all powerful Running Riot. That's the way the ball bounces...teams need to know when they can have a down week. This win also vaulted Heros past Chippy in the standings for the final 6. The rest of the top teams seem to easily handle their competition. The question is can this continue? The trend says yes but logic and luck say no. Fenway extended his loosing streak to 10 (yeah?). Big ups to SOPS and Lefties for big showing this week, keep it up as we head into the final 7 weeks of the regular season. Keep on Keeping on y'all!
Week One
