Vet Division eliminate South End Grounds
What a wild ride this past week. Who could ask for more excitement from 2 first round matches. Congrats to the Speed Demons and 2008 World Champs on 2 big upsets in the first round of the playoffs this year. It was a wild ride in week 1, as both Speed Demons and Champs took out Fenway Faithful and Seattle MacGruber! respectively. Injuries and suspensions were a serious issue that Fenway was unable to overcome. Even with the likes of Pujols, Kemp, Braun, Ellsbury AND King Felix all MIA for one reason or another, the Faithful still managed to produce a whopping 334 points, only outdone by Champs 438.5. Whereas MacGruber had the opposite problem. they hit a wall this week after pretty much cruising along all season. They had 4 pitchers finish the week in the negative, and only 3 finish the week with more than 20 points (one of which was a RP). Tough to win that way. But give credit to the scrappy Speed Demons, who took care of business and now have a date with Chippy. Good luck to both MacGruber and Fenway in the off season and next Year. And good luck moving forward to our 2 first round winners, they're really going to need it!
With that we take a quick look at our second round match-ups
#4 2008 World Champions VS #1 Running Riot
Can the Champs do it again? After beating perennial powerhouse Fenway last week, they now get to take on..... perennial powerhouse Riot. All time the Champs are 0-1 vs Riot in the playoffs, when they lost to them in the finals of the leagues inaugural season. Can they pull off the double play and upset the other gold standard of the league? A battle looms between the 5th and 6th top scoring teams in the league this year. Should be fun to watch.
#6 Speed Demons VS #2 Chippy's Monkeys
Last week the Speed Demons upset Macgruber, scoring 279.7. This scrappy upstart will most certainly have to find more offense this week vs Monkeys. But given that Demons were the 2nd highest scoring team in the league, and Monkeys were the third, I don't think scoring is going to be a problem. Should be a wild second round!
Roster Freeze Reminder
Just one last reminder that our Playoff Roster Freeze is now in full effect. Just one more note about the Roster Freeze. Please remember that if any playoff team wishes to add a player that team MUST post their roster on the appropriate board on the proboards site. If an add is made from the waiver wire and it is not reflected on the post (or if there is no post)the add will be undone by the LMs and that team will be assessed an illegal add. The thread for this rule can be found here fpbl.proboards.com/thread/158/post-season-rules
