Last Division series, Playoff rundown
This week starts the first of the last three regular season division games of the year. This games are always more important, but for a few, these are critical to deciding seeding and even maybe eligibility in the playoffs. With 5 weeks left this is how it shakes out:
In the playoffs
Fenway Faithful: With 15 wins, Fenways has locked up a ticket to the post season. He needs to finish at least tied with MacGruber! to clinch the division.
Seattle MacGruber!: With 14 wins, MacGruber! has clinched a playoff spot. He needs to finish with a better record than Fenway to win the division.
Running Riot: With 14 wins, Riot has clinched the Doubleday Field Division. He is currently in the 2nd seed and needs 3 wins to guarantee a buy and at least the 2nd seed. He can still finish first if he ends the season with more wins than Faithful and MacGruber!
Chippy's Monkeys: With 12 wins, Chippy leads the Three Rivers Stadium Division. He needs 1 win to clinch the division. He is still able to finish as high as 1, assuming he ends with more wins than Fenway, Riot and Macgruber!
Your Mom: With 8 wins, Your Mom is clinging to their playoff lives. Mom needs to win out and have Chippy lose out to make the playoffs. A single Chippy win eliminates Your Mom.
2008 World Champs: With 12 wins, Champs lead the Vet Stadium Division. Champs needs one win to clinch aplayoff spot and to eliminate Baggers from division contention, a win vs Isotopes and another win somewhere else to eliminate the Isotopes from division contention, and at least tied or better than Speed Demons to clinch the division.
Speed Demons: With 11 wins, Demons are 2nd in the Vet stadium division. Demons need 2 wins to clinch a playoff spot, and to finish at least tied or better than Champs to win the division.
Springfield Isotopes: With 9 wins the Isotopes are alive, but fading fast. They need to win out, and have Champs win no more than 1 and Demons win no more than 2 games the rest of the way to stay alive in the division. Isotopes would also have to finish at least tied with one of Demons or Champs and have beaten at least one of Champs or Demons this final time round to stay alive in the wildcard race.
The Beanbaggers: With 8 wins, Baggers are on life support. They are still alive, but just barely. Baggers need need to have one of Champs or Demons lose out, and have the Topes win no more than 1 game to make the playoffs. A single win by Champs and Demons will eliminate Baggers from the playoffs.
This week's trophies are up. Enjoy the wild ride this week!
