We would like to implement a penalty system to deter illegal adds. Last season we had what seemed like an epidemic. While we want to put in place a system to deter illegal adds, we also understand that honest mistakes do happen. Because of this, we'd like to suggest the following system
1st offense WARNING
2nd offense WARNING
3rd offense LOSS OF WAIVER SPOT (SENT TO THE END)
All further offenses LOSS OF LOWEST DRAFT PICK AND WAIVER SPOT
NOTE: Penalties DO NOT carry over from season to season. At the start of each season, the slate is wiped clean and we proceed from scratch

I'm assuming in the event that a name was misspelled on the minor league roster etc, this would not account as an offense?

I do have a suggestion that their be a complete list of players that are on every farm team in alphabetical order. Just so looking up players is a lil bit easier. Other then that I'm fine with this.

I agree, although I am a bit worried since I am the most green person

I think Ed's idea of an alphabetical list is a good one. It would go a long ways to solving the problems (names can blur after awhile). Besides that, I'm good with it as long as a common sense meter is always applied (a good exception example is name changers like Carlos Matias / Martinez etc..).

We would in no way EVER penalize a team for our mistake. If I make a mistake then the issue is with me not with you guys
When doing a search, hit "ctrl & f" and enter the players last name. Should take care of any issues anyone would have with searching
Follow the procedure above and you should be fine. That being said, we're not here to crucify anyone. Common sense will prevail in each situation. We are just looking to encourage owners to take just a little bit more time to be a little more careful when making an add. Last season there was a rash of illegal adds and we just want to make owners be a little more careful.
Once again, if I didn't update the board that's on me and not you guys. We're not going to punish you guys for my mistake. We try to make common sense the rule here but honestly, there were just too many illegal adds last season and a couple of times it caused scoring changes which at least once effected the outcome of a matchup. I try to stay on top of everything but sometimes I do miss things. This rule is just an attempt to lessen the illegal adds this season

Just want to touch on a couple of things. First of all, Ed takes care of the lists, so we don't want to punish anybody for HIS mistakes, lol.
Secondly, I have to agree that a second list seems unnecessary. A simple ctrl+f search of a players last name will let you know whether or not he's owned. There is also a search feature on the boards, it's just defaulted to only searching things posted within the last 7 days, so you have to change that before you search if that's how you choose to go.
Nobody wants to turn this into a big thing. There were a lot of illegal adds at the end of the year last season, and this is just a little bit of a deterrent to try and keep things from getting out of control. If there's some mix up on our end, whether it's a misspelled name or we're behind on updating the list or something then we're not going to punish you guys.

Yeah, there's a name change in store as soon as ESPN opens up the league. Which I think is today! I've decided to rebrand my teams in all of my leagues after the Simpsons (how much of a loser does that make me? lol): Hockey - Stonecutters Baseball - Springfield Isotopes Football - Flying Hellfish Anyway, this rule is up for a vote, so make sure you go to the poll section and say your piece!

Good rule!
While I always used searching on forum before to pick up any prospect, I think that alphabetical list would be more fair (couple years away Randy already made it).
