I know this league is spread out all across the country and I'm curious who everyone's favorite teams are. Partly for trades, but mostly to shoot the shit and talk a little smack throughout the season. As for me, growing up mostly in the Seattle area, I've had to suffer many a years through some paltry and flat out pathetic Mariners seasons (to include last year!). But rain or shine, my M's will always sit atop as my favorite. But being a lifelong Mariner fan and a genuine fan of the game, I've out of simple necessity to remain sane, needed to adopt a few other teams over the years to root and pull for... as I dream of the day my M's someday reach the World Series. My short list of other semi-favorites include (and probably in this order): * The Cubies (lifelong family ties and arguably the best place to see a game) * The Reds (because of a fellow stud SS in Barry Larkin and 3 Nasty Relievers) * The Red Sox (simply because of 3 Outfielders named Rice, Lynn and Yaz) * The Dbacks (a late addition via my wife's family) While none will ever replace my sad, pathetic love of the Mariners, it has allowed me the opportunity to cheer and scream for an occasional winner in the out-friggin-standing game of baseball! Oh and on a side note... there is nothing better in the whole damn world than seeing those smug ass smiles of spoiled little Yankee fans being smacked off their silly little faces. Another reason I root for the Sox. You?

We here in Philly enjoy our 4 Aces and our Phillies, oh and our Flyers, oh and our Eagles, oh and our... Temple OWLS! And don't come here with that being a fan of a bad team stuff. I'm a fan of the first team to 10,000 losses. I do have to agree that I enjoy watching the Yanks suffer, as well as the Mutts (did they rename their stadium to Madoff field yet?), but i have no love for the Sox or Cubs either. I mean, we get throwing snowballs at santa thrown in our face but at least we never ran one of our own out of town (Kobe being the exception).

That i actually know the words to this ridiculous song is HI-Larious!
Of all the professional sports team that i bleed for (JETS, LEAFS, RAPTORS) the Blue Jays are the one team that in my lifetime I had the opportunity to taste victory (although the jets have had some recent success). Those two years 92-93 were FANTASTIC, all star teams, and so fun to watch. The skydome had just opened, a landmark stadium at the time and a concrete deathtrap 15 years later, but was 50,000 strong on a tuesday night. It seriously was a very memorable and impression time. Was 17, getting drunk and smoking weed (mostly hungover heros influence and stash), working my way through the ladies of a small town high school and just loving the game!
I was at a small bar in Haliburton ontario when Joe Carter hit the homerun, drinking underage, and the bar emptied into the streets.....there was only 40 of us lol but will never forget it.
Love the game so much. My company has seats three rows above the visitors dugout. Still get to 2-3 a year. Have been playing fantasy baseball since 2000, started on Sandbox, and have been mostly yahoo until joining this league.
Love, love the farm team and depth and activity guys. I'll be re-shaping my roster until they are all my guys. And fyi, anybody ive traded for is one of my guys.....everyone else including my farm is ripe for the taking.
LETS PLAY BALL!!!!! The Badone aka Double Barrell Badass aka Billy B aka Double B aka Jr. Spivey All Stars Management

My Turn: I bleed Boston through and through. While the Boston Red Sox gave so many people heart burn and reasons to be pretty angry, Those mid 80's and 90's teams gave me a reason to be happy. (pretty dramamtic, no? But 100% true). Grew up watching the end of Rice and Dewey, the beginning of Rogah (pre steroids), Greenwell, Burks, Jody Reed, Big Mo Vaughn (looking at his autographed picture hanging in my home office), Nomah, Pedro and on and on it goes. Every fan believes their team is the greatest ever or that the stadium they play in is the holy of holies and I am not different. There isn't one place on earth that has given me the goosebumps, excitement and tears that Fenway Park does. Walking up the entry way and the Green Monster comes into view and blends in with the green grass, crack of the bats and pops of the mitts....nothing will ever compare to that (in the realm of sports). Having moved around a bit in the last 5 years, I've acquired a deeper appreciation for the Cubs (living in Chicago for 2 years). Always felt the Cubs and Red Sox were so alike with the history and after meeting the fans, they are EXACTLY like Sox fans were prior 2004. I hoe they can experience that joy of finally winning. This will be my first year rooting for another AL team, as I have become friends with a member of the KC Royals coaching staff. Won't be too hard to root for them, seeing as they aren't good , but their youth is going to change that sooner rather than later. That my friends, is my baseball fan story...and I'm sticking to it.

I'm Reds fan because I'm communist. All symbols of Soviet Union like bloody red flag, Red Army etc. I associate with Reds! Sorry guys... it was just joke. My English very short in order to clearly explain why man like me, who lives thousands miles away from Cincinnati and never was there, is fan of that team.

Great topic! +1 karma for you. You're dating yourself a bit though Mike, Yastrzemski retired before I was even born! lol
Having lived in Philadelphia most of my life I'm a life long Phillies fan and up until very recently this has been a heavy cross to bear. When we hit our 10,000th loss (a number the Atlanta Braves will hit this year without so much as a mention on Sportscenter) I was watching a show about it that put the plight of Phillies fans in a pretty neat little nutshell. To paraphrase, the Boston Red Sox had the mystique of the curse and the Cubs are the lovable losers, but the Phillies are just losers, lol. Since we're entering a golden era of Philadelphia sports though (two parades this year, you heard it here first!) I can't complain.
I don't really pull for any other teams except for whoever the Mets and Yankees might be playing against on a given night, I usually just root for certain players. For the longest time this meant I was pulling for whatever team Curt Schilling was playing for, although I always loved Griffey too. I also have a soft spot for great defensive third basemen. Don't ask me why, I don't know, but I'll take watching a great defensive play on the hot corner over another long ball any day. This puts Ryan Zimmerman pretty high on my players to watch list, but since he's in the division I just hope he loses every game he's in. So far he and the Nats haven't disappointed much, lol.
This has probably been the greatest offseason ever, not only because the Phillies added Lee to put the finishing touches on a historic rotation, but because of how much of a complete and utter failure it was for the Yankees. They miss out on Lee, miss out on Crawford, and have to settle for Russel Martin as their big acquisition. ;D

I love historic teams - and there's a pure hatred of the Yankees inside me - so those two things have drawn me to the Red Sox. I've only been a serious fan over the last 4-5 years so I don't have any childhood ties or lifelong fanmanship going on, but without a doubt the Sox have been my team since day one. I've probably watched almost as many minor league games in person as I've watched major league games on tv, so I'm drawn to teams with a lot of youth who rely heavily on develoing players rather than buying them. Think anti-yankees Growing up in East Tennessee, we've never had an MLB team to call our own so we kind of default into Braves territory. For the longest time, I hated the Braves simply because everyone else here loved them. That's starting to change a little, but it's probably partly due to hating the Mets and Phillies (though I'll admit, the Phillies are one hell of an impressive team). But, if I weren't a Red Sox fan, I probably wouldn't have a team.

Living in Toronto has made the choices easy. Blue Jays first. 1992 / 1993 go down in history. The Jays put a nice team on the field every year, and we get to the play the big boys 10 times a year each. It is easy to get a good ticket at the Skydome and watch some quality baseball.
After that it is my beloved Bills. I go to atleast two games a year. Yes they suck. But the skids in Buffalo sure know who to tailgate. That is a messy, long day. Ask the Jr. Spivey on that one.
Hockey it is the Leafs, but i like Chicago, Colorado, LA and Vancouver.
BBall - Raptors. Cheer for Boston! I love how the Celtics are put together, and KJ is a beast!
Lacrosse - Rock
CFL - Argonauts
MMA - Georges St-Pierre
MLS - TFC
ok, my head is starting to hurt.
